And they wonder why they are unemployed...
People amaze me. I have a web programming position open and have been receiving resumes for a couple of weeks. I get one from an applicant that looks fully qualified. On it there is an email address for a private domain. Of course, I'm going to look. It happens to be the person's blog. Of course, I'm going to read it. The thing is filled with boasts on skipping work, lying to the boss, and bitches about management. HELLO! Don't freaking give this domain out on a resume - moron.
I get another one that looks great - all the right qualifications. Again there is a site listed - this time as an example of the person's work. Lo and behold, they have a resume posted that looks NOTHING like the one they sent to me, other than the name at the top. There's padding the resume and then there is outright lying. What would that person do if they actually got the job?
Today I got one where the person actually wrote down that he had had 40 jobs and went on to list the fields he had worked in (about a dozen different ones - none of them in the IT world).
Suppose they will run into each other at the unemployment office?

LOL! You do bring up good points however about blogs and such. I hadn't thought about that. I never had it as extreme as you do, but I did some resumes for a programming position that were from a burger flipper and other assorted careers. Has the amount of resumes gone down per chance? I know in one job posting that we had, we received nearly 200 resumes over a period of a week. I suspect that it's probably just as bad being in a bigger city (Des Moines I presume!)
40 jobs!!?? Is that supposed to seem like a good thing?? What were these people thinking??
What a bunch of goofs!! It's funny, though!
Send them a piece of construction paper, cut into the shape of an "L" (for Loser). Apply peel and stick tape to the back for easy application to their foreheads.
